Slaw.ca – Canada’s Award-Winning Online Legal Magazine

Since its launch in 2005, collaborative online legal magazine Slaw has been considered to be essential daily reading by many in Canadian legal circles.

Slaw.ca is written by and for the Canadian law community: lawyers, librarians, technologists, marketers, students, educators and everyone in between.

With perspectives from academia, law firms, non-profits, regulatory bodies and beyond, Slaw explores how law is practised, how it’s taught, how the industry is changing, and what the future might hold.

Stem Legal assumed the role of Slaw publisher from Simon Fodden in 2014. Since that time we have been honoured to continue Simon’s vision of facilitating smart, informed discussions about the law.

Lawblogs.ca: The Canadian Law Blogs List

The Canadian Law Blogs List was first published in September 2005 on the Vancouver Law Librarian Blog by Steve Matthews.

Stem Legal is proud to continue the open spirit of the original list as it moves forward at lawblogs.ca with over 500 Canadian legal blogs.

The Canadian Law Blogs List is an open directory with free listings available to any Canadian blogging lawyer, law librarian, marketer, IT professional, or paralegal. If you or someone you know publishes a blog that meets our submission guidelines, please let us know.

Clawbies – Canadian Law Blog Awards

There are lots of great Canadian law blogs out there, and this website is a showcase of our local Canadian talent. The Clawbies started as a one-man operation in 2006 focusing exclusively on legal blogs. Over time, the awards have evolved into a wide-ranging celebration of Canada’s best free online legal commentary. We recently celebrated 15 years of Clawbies.

The Clawbies run every December, with final results released on New Year’s Eve. Although the awards celebrate the year’s most creative, accomplished and community-minded Canadian legal commentators, we emphasize that the most important part of the process is the nominations, which are social-media based and open to blog readers in Canada, the US, and beyond. We hope you’ll take part!
